GAME BASED PROGRAM
I use games to teach literacy & numeracy.
They are super fun and engaging, and this means kids are focused and "learn by stealth."
If the players are enjoying their game, they will use all their skills, and take on board new learning
without even noticing it happening.
This is a typical set-up for one of the games we play in the program,
in this case exploring a series of rooms with challenges including
puzzles, traps and monsters.

WHO AM I, AND HOW DO I KNOW THE PROGRAM WORKS?
For the last 25 years I have worked as a professional storyteller and speaker,
travelling New Zealand and entertaining and educating children and adults.
I teach gifted and talented children how to write, and run workshops teaching writing for reluctant boys.
I've written and published my own books, and help young and not-so-young authors publish their own work
through Young NZ Writers, and Speculative Fiction NZ.
For several years I have run a similar game based literacy & numeracy program
for Oranga Tamariki, working with some of their most challenging clients.
I limit my group size to 4 participants, so every child attending
gets individual attention.
